Hi All, this is long overdue and I hope this finds everyone well and making the best out of the times.
First and foremost to all of our supporters, I just want to say on behalf of the team at UnCorked Adventures, our charity partners and the incredible team that came together in Great Britain thank you3, it was without a doubt a great success and would not have been possible without all the incredible support that we received from you.
One of the objectives of this event was to bring countries, organizations and people together, in a unique way, for what I think all of us in the community want, which is to live better with Parkinson's while we work together to find a cure. Personally it was extremely rewarding to see Team Fox of the Michael J Fox Foundation, Cure Parkinson's and the Parkinson's UK teams working together. We can't do enough of this to hopefully further align ourselves as much as possible in the future. Hopefully some of the seeds that were planted and connective tissue continues to grow, as only good things can come from that. Also, I would be remiss not to mention, what wonderful people we had on the core team from these charities; Always happy supporting selflessly in the background, Liz, Leanne and Sarah, respectively, thank you for all of your time, commitment and help, it was truly a pleasure working with all of you and I'm very thankful for all the support you provided us.
Linked here is a “short” movie retrospective on the walk itself, despite our best efforts I think it's always really difficult to convey in the moment the nature of what you're going through and I hope this movie provides further context into the incredible efforts and effects this beautiful team put forth, towards helping the community, daily. I hope you find the time to check it out, there's some subjects in there I purposely didn’t share at the time, as I didn't want to tokenize the experience, as well as the highs and the lows for which there were many. At the end of the day we completed the 670 mile trek on time and the team finished the London marathon in fine fashion. Please see the movie for the details including our fundraising, but the take away for me, yet again, is the power in people working together the bridges that our common humanity builds and a continued optimism towards the future.
Lastly we couldn’t not have done this without our sponsors, we had incredible support from the following sponsors, all of which either donated goods, services or donations, thank you! Please click the images below which will link you to their website to check them out.
As always, lots of exciting things planned for next year,
Paraphrasing and combining quotes from Young the Giant and Cool Hand Luke… There’s gonna be some world shaking, and if the World don't break I'll keep shaking it….
